Brand Profile[Established year] 2010
CHRISTIAN DADA was founded in Tokyo in 2010 by Masanori Morikawa.
The brand's name nods both to Parisian Haute Couture and Dadaism, the artistic movement challenging perceived notions of beauty, logic and social norms. Designer Morikawa's idea of the beauty of imperfection is also at the core of CHRISTIAN DADA Design.
Initially presented in Tokyo, the brand is now listed officially on the Paris Fashion week calendar since 2016, with a collaboration collection with a Japanese legendary photographer Nobuyoshi Araki. CHRISTIAN DADA continues to show both men's and women's collections simultaneously during Paris Fashion Week.
The brand's high involvement with the arts and unique approach with various traditional Japanese weaving and embroidery techniques earn international attention, especially among celebrities and journalists.
